What to Expect
A simple guide to your massage visit.
We want every guest to feel prepared, comfortable, and cared for. These quick reminders help your appointment begin on time and allow your therapist to personalize the experience around your needs.
Your comfort guides the session.
Your therapist will review your goals, pressure preference, focus areas, and available enhancements. You may speak up at any time about pressure, temperature, music, positioning, or draping.
Take your time and plan ahead.
Many guests feel deeply relaxed after a massage, and mild next-day soreness can occasionally occur. Your therapist will meet you at the desk so you can rebook your next visit.
Comfort & Customization
Your massage should feel personal.
Pure Massage employs both male and female licensed massage therapists. You may request a therapist or share a gender preference when scheduling, and we will do our best to accommodate your request.
You choose your comfort level for undressing, and you will remain properly draped throughout the massage. Only the area being treated will be uncovered.

Appointments, Arrival & Timing
Reservations
Appointments should be reserved as far in advance as possible because availability can fill quickly. A valid credit card is required to guarantee your reservation.
Arrival
First-time guests should arrive at least 10 minutes early to complete health information and ask questions. Returning guests should arrive at least 5 minutes early. Late arrival may shorten the hands-on portion of the massage out of respect for the next scheduled guest.
Treatment time
Each reservation includes approximately 5 minutes before and after the hands-on service for consultation, changing, next steps, and rebooking. A 60-minute reservation provides approximately 50 minutes of hands-on massage; a 30-minute reservation provides approximately 20 minutes; and a 90-minute reservation provides approximately 80 minutes.
Cancellation & Health
24-hour cancellation policy
Please notify Pure Massage at least 24 hours before your reserved time if you need to cancel or change your appointment. Same-day cancellations and missed appointments are charged 100% of the scheduled service value.
Illness
Massage services cannot be provided when a guest is sick or has a fever. If symptoms develop, please contact us promptly so we can help with the next appropriate step. The cancellation policy still applies to changes made within 24 hours.
Comfort, Therapists & Etiquette
Therapist preference
Pure Massage employs both male and female therapists. Let us know your preference or request a specific therapist when scheduling, and we will do our best to accommodate you.
Comfort and communication
Please communicate your goals, pressure preference, focus areas, and any needed adjustments. Your comfort is our priority throughout the session.
Personal items and phones
A closet is available inside the treatment room. Please leave jewelry and valuables at home when possible. Pure Massage cannot be responsible for lost items. For the comfort of all guests, place mobile phones on silent or turn them off while inside Pure Massage.
Memberships, Gift Cards & Payment
Monthly massages
Monthly massages included with eligible Spa 23 or Pure Massage memberships are non-transferable and must be used within 60 days. Visit our membership options page for additional membership information.
Gift cards
Pure Massage gift cards are available for purchase at Spa 23. Contact us at pure@spa23.com or call 973-839-8823, extension 1 for assistance.
Payment and sales tax
We accept cash, checks, Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express, Pure/Spa 23 gift cards, and SpaFinder gift cards. Please mention any gift card when making your reservation. New Jersey sales tax of 6.875% is added to massage services and customized enhancements.
Gratuities
Gratuities are optional and always appreciated. The customary gratuity for massage is approximately 20% of the regular service value. Gratuity envelopes are available in each treatment room and at the reception desk. Gratuities may also be left by credit card or an accepted money-transfer app.
Special Guests & Spa 23 Access
Minors
Guests ages 13–17 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian who remains present in the treatment room. A consent-to-treat-a-minor form must be completed at least 24 hours before the reservation.
Prenatal massage
Expecting mothers are welcomed after the first trimester. Please request a therapist certified in prenatal massage when scheduling.
Spa 23 facility access
Guests scheduled for a Pure Massage service may enjoy Spa 23 fitness and spa amenities on the day of their massage. Select classes and services may require a separate fee. Please contact us for current childcare availability, hours, and applicable fees before your visit.
